Experiences
Here’s where memories are truly made.
Trincomalee Thrills
The ancient settlement of Trincomalee (or Trinco, as it’s usually called), now the third-largest city in Sri Lanka, is best known for its famous harbour, one of the world’s largest and finest deep-water anchorages.
Pigeon Island Snorkeling
A white sand paradise with crystal clear waters full of ocean life. Known for its reefs, and luscious greenery, Pigeon Island is spectacular. You might even be able to catch a glimpse of a reef shark or turtle whilst snorkeling among technicolour fish! This is an experience, you won’t want to miss.
Whale & Dolphin Watching
Trincomalee is said to be one of the best places in the world to watch Blue Whales and Dolphins. Get up close and personal with these gentle giants as well as the kindest and by far the cutest mammals of the ocean. The best time for whale and dolphin watching in the East Coast of Sri Lanka is from May to October. Blue Whales and Sperm Whales can be seen around six to eight nautical miles East of Trincomalee ( approx.30 minutes by boat into sea). Whales are not as easy to spot as Spinner Dolphins, but your boatman will do their best to ensure you do. We will arrange a packed breakfast, as it is best to leave early.
Koneswaram Temple
Surrounded by Swami Rock and the beautifully vast Gokarna Bay, Koneswaram Temple has been a pilgrimage site for years. Walk up to the temple walled by the site of several beautiful shops, and get a stunning view of all of Trincomalee from the top of the rock.
Fort Fredrick
Built by the Portuguese in 1623, Fort Fredrick has been in the possession of all our colonizers thus holds a great amount of history within. It is currently occupied by the military but you can tour inside and visit it, on your way up to Koneswaram!
Fishing trips
There’s plenty of fish in the sea for those who enjoy fishing here in Trincomalee. We can arrange for a deep sea fishing experience that will include refreshments too. Trolling rods and reels will be provided but you can bring your own equipment if you wish. This excursion begins at about 0600hrs and the boat can be chartered for 3 hours. Some of the fish you are likely to catch include Sailfish, Aahoo, Tuna, Dorado, Giant Trivelly (GT), Barracuda and King Mackerel.
Kanniya Hot Springs
Seven square shaped wells, only 3 or 4 ft deep but therapeutic and said to have healing powers that can cure many ailments, so well worth a visit!
